21st Century Research

In this research project designed for an AP Language and Composition class I taught, students were assigned to to reflect on the different novels that we read in the last three years together (the specific context being I worked with the students three years in a row and was able to tailor a piece of research that catered to the skills they each developed and novels we all read) and identify a key problem that existed in one of those novels - that still exists in modern society.  While this project did not force them to identify a problem on their own per se, the research they were required to do asked them to explore how the problem had been addressed throughout the years.  

 

Once they identified the problem, they then had to find a non-fiction book that explored modern solutions to the problem.  Then, with this source along with other information they had to explore a new solution to the problem as it exists.  The assignment for the task is attached to the end of this document.*
